Block printing is a process of printing textiles on fabric. It is the earliest method of textile printing and despite being a slow process, it is highly capable of yielding artistic results unobtainable by other printing processes.
Learn to spot textures and shapes in your surroundings, creating blocks from upcycling materials you find in your home. There're no limitations to what you can create. Work from a sketch and make blocks to piece it together like jig-saw, or form your blocks and create a tessellation.
Whether you prefer geometry, florals, traditional or abstract, this workshop will teach you to take your ideas from sketch to print. You will learn the fundamentals of printing on fabric and have fun making blocks from simple everyday materials. Combine your own printing blocks to create different patterns on a tote bag, scarf, table runner, cushion cover or just plain fabric to sew into anything you'd want.
Duration per session : 3 hours You will take home : Your own printing blocks (to print more items at the comfort of your home!) + a block-printed piece All materials and light refreshments will be provided.
This workshop is suitable for all ages. All children 12 and below must be accompanied by a participating adult.
